New to japa?

The words behind the practice.

Jaap (or japa)
The rhythmic repetition of a sacred name or mantra, traditionally 108 times.
Naam
The name of the divine you chant — Ram, Krishna, Shiv, and many more.
Mantra
A longer sacred phrase, often Sanskrit. Hare Krishna, Om Namah Shivaya, the Gayatri.
Mala
The 108-bead garland that holds the count, traditionally rolled by hand.
Anushthan
A vow to chant a fixed count daily, for a fixed number of days. A practice with a beginning and an end.

Pick any. Chant any number. Jaap Daily holds the count.

Anushthan mode

Anushthan, the dual-counter way.

Track a Naam and a Mantra side-by-side, each with its own mala size. The interface splits in two — top zone for the Naam, bottom zone for the Mantra. Bell rings on both. History records each.

Apple Watch

Your wrist becomes the bead.

Native watchOS app — not a remote control. Tap the screen, twist the Digital Crown, or just glance at the complication on your watch face. The watch counts even when your phone is in another room. It syncs back when you reconnect.

Privacy

Privacy, the real story.

Most devotional apps treat your spiritual practice like ad inventory. We do not. Here is exactly what happens with your data:

  • Sign-in is optional. Use the app fully without an account. Phone, email, Google, and Apple sign-in are available if you want them.
  • Anonymous by default. Your jap, your malas, your streaks — all stay on your device unless you choose to sync. If you sign in to back up or sync across devices, your data is stored securely on our Firebase backend. We never sell it, share it, or use it for ads.
  • No ads. Ever. No subscription. Ever. Every feature is free for everyone.
  • Minimal analytics. Firebase tells us when the app crashes and which features people use. We use it to fix bugs and prioritize updates — nothing more. Never shared. Never sold.
  • You can delete your data anytime. One-click deletion here.

Why we built this

I lost count of my mala 30 times before I built this.

Every app I tried wanted my email, my data, or my money. None of them wanted my practice.

Jaap Daily is what I wanted to use myself. No account required. No tracking I cannot see. No ads, ever. Just a place to chant, and to remember that I chanted.

If it helps you, it serves its purpose.

— Dishika Singh
Supported by you

Free, supported by you.

FAQ

Common questions

Is Jaap Daily really free?
Yes. Everyone gets every feature, on every platform. No subscription, no premium, no ads. Donations are optional and one-time.
Do I need an account?
No. You can use the entire app anonymously and everything stays on your device. Sign-in is only there if you want to back up your practice or sync between devices. We support phone, email, Google, and Apple sign-in.
Do you collect any data about me?
Yes, minimally. We use Firebase for optional sign-in and for basic app analytics — crash reports, which features are used, what versions we should support. We do not sell data, do not share it with advertisers, and do not use it for marketing. The app itself contains no ads, ever. Full details on our Privacy Policy.
Where does my data live?
By default, on your device. The app works fully without any account. If you sign in (phone, email, Google, or Apple), your data syncs to our secure Firebase backend so you can recover or use it on another device. You can stop syncing or delete your synced data anytime from Settings.
