Why count at all?
About online jap counting. Jap — also written japa or jaap — is the practice of repeating a sacred name in counted cycles, traditionally tallied on a 108-bead mala. It is a daily anchor across Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, and Jain traditions, and the act of counting itself is part of the discipline.
About this page. Tap anywhere on the counter above to chant any naam without an account or install. Your progress, mala completions, and chosen naam are saved in your browser on your device — we never see them. for a full-screen experience.
For a steady practice
Small habits that keep the count going.
Same time, same place
A fixed slot — early morning is the traditional one — turns jap into a habit faster than waiting for a free moment.
Stay with one naam
Keep one naam or mantra for a stretch of days rather than switching every sitting.
Start small on busy days
Set the mala size to 27 or 54. A short round keeps your streak alive better than skipping.
Stop watching the number
Turn on the bell and enter Focus mode — close your eyes and let the mala tell you when a round is done.
Counting at a desk
The same mala, in your Chrome toolbar.
Jaap Daily is also a free Chrome extension: one tap counts, a keyboard shortcut counts while the popup is closed, and it asks for one permission and collects nothing. It keeps its own count, and hands the round back to this page whenever you want the bigger screen.

About this jaap
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ · Waheguru
Waheguru — "wondrous teacher" — is the Gurmantar given at Amrit Sanchar, and Waheguru simran is the daily practice Sikhs are asked to keep, aloud or in the breath. Sikh tradition does not prescribe a mala count, so treat 108 as a convenience, not a rule; set the mala size to whatever helps you keep the habit.
