    संकट आवैं न पास कबौ तिन्हें।सम्पदा और सुख की बनै लीकी॥आरती श्री गायत्री जी की॥

saṅkaṭa āvaiṃ na pāsa kabau tinhẽ।sampadā aura sukha kī banai līkī॥āratī śrī gāyatrī jī kī॥

Overview

Aarti Shri Gayatri Ji Ki is a short Hindi aarti of six couplet-verses addressed to the goddess Gayatri, each one returning to the same refrain line that gives the aarti its name: “Aarti Shri Gayatri Ji Ki.” The verses describe the aarti itself in devotional metaphor — knowledge as its lamp, faith as its wick, devotion standing in for the ghee that would otherwise feed the flame — before asking that trouble stay away from the reciter and that the mind stay fixed in loving meditation on the goddess. It is one of more than one aarti sung to Gayatri; a longer, more widely known aarti beginning “Jayati Jai Gayatri Mata” is a separate composition, distinct from the text on this page.

Origin and source

Aarti Shri Gayatri Ji Ki circulates as an anonymous, traditional Hindi composition in devotional pamphlets and aarti collections, without a settled attribution to a named author in the way the Gayatri Chalisa is attributed to Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya. As with most orally transmitted aartis, printed and online versions vary in small ways from source to source — a word added or dropped in a line, a different spelling of a verb ending — while the overall content and meaning stay stable across them. The text on this page follows one complete, internally consistent version checked against multiple independently published sources.

How it is recited

Aarti Shri Gayatri Ji Ki is sung with a lit lamp or diya circled before an image of the goddess, in the ordinary way of any Hindu aarti, and it is especially associated with Gayatri Jayanti, the festival marking the goddess’s appearance. Some devotees also include it in daily worship alongside sandhya vandan, the practice of prayer at dawn, noon, and dusk that centers on the Gayatri Mantra, and alongside recitation of the longer Gayatri Chalisa. As with other aartis, it is typically sung together by everyone present, with the refrain repeated after each verse.
