JaapDaily adds Sangrah, a library of chalisa and aarti texts with verified sources
A fifth tab in the free japa counter opens 114 chalisa and aarti texts in Devanagari, Roman and English, readable offline and sourced against two independent transcriptions each.
LYNNWOOD, Wash., Sep 2, 2026 — JaapDaily has added Sangrah, a library of chalisa and aarti texts, as a fifth tab in its free japa counter. It opens 114 texts — 51 chalisas and 63 aartis — each with the full Devanagari, a Roman transliteration and an English meaning, switchable as you read.
The reader has no counter in it. Sangrah is for reading and singing rather than for counting, which is the rest of the app's job, so the screen is a plain scroll with a script switcher and optional background music chosen to suit an aarti.
Texts can be downloaded for offline use, and two — the Hanuman Chalisa and the Durga Chalisa — ship inside the app itself, so they open on a phone that has never had a connection. Favourites sync across devices for anyone signed in; nobody has to sign in to read.
Every text is published under a sourcing policy the app makes public: each one is checked against at least two independently transcribed sources — a printed edition and a recorded recitation, for example — and a text that cannot be verified that way is left out rather than guessed at. The policy is published at jaapdaily.com/learn/editorial-policy.
Sangrah is free, with no advertising and no paid tier, like the rest of the app. JaapDaily is available on the App Store and Google Play, and at jaapdaily.com.
This announcement was written for the JaapDaily press archive and added to this site on 24 September 2026. The date above is the date of the release it describes, not the date this page was published.
