JaapDaily adds Karaoke Mode, so the mantra scrolls as you count
Long mantras now move line by line with each tap, with the current line lit — for people who are still learning the words.
LYNNWOOD, Wash., Jul 22, 2026 — JaapDaily has added Karaoke Mode to its free japa counter, for the long mantras that are hard to hold in memory. The mantra is broken into lines; each tap advances the count and moves the text, with the line being chanted lit and the lines around it dimmed.
The feature came out of a plain problem: a two-line naam can be chanted from memory, but a mantra like the Mahamrityunjaya or the Gayatri runs far longer, and someone still learning it spends the practice looking for their place rather than chanting. Karaoke Mode keeps the place for them.
The rolling window shows a few lines at a time — three, four or five, set by the user — and the speed of the highlight is adjustable between slow, medium and fast. Each visible line carries its number, so a reader who looks away knows where they were. The same layout appears in Focus mode, the app's full-screen view.
Karaoke Mode is off unless switched on, in Practice settings, and it is free like everything else in the app. It works alongside the existing counting methods; the bead ring and volume-button counting are unchanged.
JaapDaily is a free japa counter for iPhone, Android and Apple Watch, available on the App Store and Google Play, and at jaapdaily.com.
